When Your Monday To-Do List Has Other Plans

Sharing Our Family With Yours

Monday morning. A fresh week and a beautiful list of everything you are going to accomplish: laundry, groceries, calls, cleaning, appointments and dinner. You think, “I’ve got this!” And then Monday happens.

The plan versus reality

The phone rings. Something spills. You are missing an ingredient. An appointment runs late. Somehow three things get crossed off the list and seven new ones appear. Wonderful!

The things we do not write down

Listening to a child, checking on a loved one, helping someone through a hard day and making sure everyone eats take time too. Just because they were not on the list does not make them less important.

Maybe we need a different list

What if we counted the good things that happened along the way? Someone laughed. A hard conversation went better than expected. You kept going. Those things count.

Cross off what you can, move what can wait, and remember that a good day does not need to be perfect. Sometimes making someone feel loved is the most important thing you accomplish.

From our family to yours: Do you make a daily list, or tackle whatever the day brings?
