We don't always have time for a big volunteer project. But most of us have a few minutes somewhere in our everyday routine to make another person's day a little easier.
Look for the small openings
Return a shopping cart that someone left in the way. Let a person with just a few items go ahead of you. Thank the person restocking shelves. Hold the door without expecting anything in return.
None of these things will change the whole world by themselves. But to the person having a hard day, one gentle interaction can be a reminder that people still care.
Children notice these choices, too. Kindness becomes more than something we talk about when they see us practicing it.
Today's little challenge: Do one thoughtful thing during an errand and don't tell anyone you did it.
